Tennis teams split with Warren County

The White County High School tennis team maneuvered around Mother Nature and was able to get in a match on Thursday at Warren County.
The Warriors and Warriorettes split their matches with the squad from McMinnville. The Warriorettes captured a 6-2 win over the Lady Pioneers, but the Warriors were swept 8-0 by the Pioneers.
The WCHS girls won both their singles matches. The tandem of Star Simpson and Chelsea Sims captured the 8-3 win, which was the identical score by which the team of Megan James and Jessica Jones were victorious in their match.
The Warriorettes won four of their six singles matches. Star Simpson was defeated 8-2 by Ray. Chelsea Sims suffered an 8-5 loss to McCormick. Megan James picked up an 8-2 win over Martinez. Lauren Cannon followed with an identical 8-2 win over Foster. Jessica Jones was victorious by a score of 8-1 over Cornett. The final singles match for the Warriorettes was a 9-7 tiebreaker win by Alexandra Lynn over Jennings.
The Warriors did not fare as well in their matches. In singles action, Justin Turney was defeated 8-4 by McGregor. Tyler Brady suffered an 8-6 loss to Black. Kevin Honaker fell in his match by a score of 8-4 to Locke. Tyler Rash was defeated 8-0 by Fuqua. Conlon Cash came up short 8-1 in his match with Grissom. J.T. Randolph wrapped up singles play with an 8-3 loss to Wilson.
In boys’ doubles action. Turney/Brady fell by a score of 8-5 to McGregor/Black. The tandem of Honaker/Cash was defeated 8-6 by Lock/Grissom.
The Warriors and Warriorettes play host to the Warren County teams today at 3:30 p.m. and will then travel to Cookeville on Tuesday.
