The Rev. Ralph Wendell Tucker

The Rev. Ralph Wendell Tucker, 85, of Sparta, passed away on April 5, 2018, at his residence.
The Rev. Tucker was born Feb. 9, 1933, in Decatur, Alabama, the son of Allie Tucker and Lilly Brooks Tucker.
He served as a minister in the Free Will Baptist Church for over 60 years. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
The Rev. Tucker was preceded in death by parents; his brothers, A.B. Tucker, John Tucker, Glenn Tucker, J.W. Tucker; and a sister, Goldie Lipscomb.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Norma Selby Tucker, of Sparta; son, Phillip Tucker, of Sparta; son, Stephen D. Tucker (Elizabeth), of Huntsville, Alabama; grandson, Cody Tucker, of Huntsville, Alabama; sisters, Louise Thomas, of Lacey Springs, Alabama, Jean Delong, of Huntsville, Alabama, Dimple Benningfield, of Madison, Alabama; special niece, Pauline Abercrombie; cousin, Herman Brooks; and many special friends and neighbors.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., April 8, 2018, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. Lloyd Locklear, the Rev. Freddy Copeland, and the Rev. David Bratcher will officiate. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., April 7, at the funeral home.
