Thomas Edsel Marshall

Thomas Edsel Marshall, 84, passed away Dec. 3, 2017, at his residence, in Sparta.

Born Saturday, March 18, 1933, in Lenoir, North Carolina, he was the son of Rex Marshall and Ruby Greene Marshall.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving four years during the Korean War. He was a proud member of Calvary Baptist Church and the NRA.

Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John, Keith, Gene, and Tony.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Marshall, of Sparta; children, Thomas and Karen Marshall, of Ohio, Todd and Debra Marshall, of Sparta, Anita Jo Solinski and Hank, of Ohio, Kristin and Mark Varner, of Franklin; grandchildren, McKenna, Caden, Caleb, Todd James, Dawn, Heather, Mandy, Lauren, Jeanine, Michael; brothers, Bob Crenshaw (Thelma), of Ohio, Jerry “Pie” Marshall, of North Carolina, David Marshall (Candy), of North Carolina, Harry Clark (Velvia), of North Carolina; and several great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be noon, Dec. 6, 2017, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10 a.m.-noon, Dec. 6, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Calvary Baptist Church.
