Doyle Board of Mayor and Aldermen is working toward finalizing details for the upcoming car show.
With the third annual Doyle Car Show right around the corner, board members, on March 6, discussed finalizing details about this year’s event, which is slated for June 2, 2018, at the Doyle Community Center.
In fall 2016, the Town of Doyle hosted the inaugural car show, which netted approximately 170 cars and several vendors. The second annual Doyle Car Show, in April 2017, saw over 200 cars in attendance, along with food vendors, music, and a large crowd of spectators.
This year, city officials hope to build on the success of the previous car shows. Following extensive discussions, the board approved that the entry donation fee of $20 per participating vehicle will be donated to Doyle Volunteer Fire Department.
All cars will be welcomed at this year’s car show, and prizes will be given to the top three winners. Additionally, a $400 prize will also go to the largest auto club that is in attendance.
The board will be securing live entertainment, as well as food vendors, for the event. Flyers are being generated and will be dispersed as soon as they are made available.
In other business, the board:
-Discussed the caution lights on Highway 111, in Doyle. The board is getting bids to repair/replace lights.
-Discussed building a new town hall that would be attached to the Doyle Fire Hall
-Approved the Doyle monthly financial report
-Approved adopting policies needed for the Upper Cumberland Development District’s Home Rehabilitation Program
-Approved declaring the recently replaced Doyle fire engine 101 as surplus equipment
-Approved selling the surplus fire truck to Eastland Volunteer Fire Department for $20,000
-Approved purchasing $17,822 for rescue equipment for the new Doyle fire truck
-Discussed the condition of the roof at Doyle Fire Hall
Doyle Board of Mayor and Aldermen will hold its next meeting, at 7 p.m., April 3, at Doyle Town Hall.
