Troy Lee Carter

Troy Lee Carter, 68, of Sparta, passed away April 14, 2018.

Mr. Carter was born Feb. 7, 1950, in Sparta, to Orby Carter and Willease Deering Carter.

He was a member of Taft Church of Christ where he served as an elder. He was a lifetime farmer, which he loved. He was also co-owner of Carter Brothers Logging with his brother, Donnie. Most of all, he was a loving family man who always put their needs above his own.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents, Orby Carter and Willease Deering Carter; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth White and Virginia Gilbert White; his grandparents, Lee Deering and Clarsie Cash Deering, John Wesley Carter and Mary Lou Baker Carter; brother, Sammie Carter; and sister-in-law, Kathi White Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Janice White Carter, to whom he would have been married 50 years, on May 4; one daughter, Dana Bray and husband Eugene; two grandchildren, Daniel Bray, Kaleigh Bray; two brothers, Keith Carter, of Sparta, Donnie Carter, of Sparta; and two sisters, Pat Cravens and husband Donnie, of Sparta, and Glenda Phillips and husband Rodger, of Algood.

Funeral service will be noon, April 17, 2018, at Taft Church of Christ, with burial in Carter Family Cemetery. Eugene Bray and Daniel Bray will officiate. The family will receive friends after 3:30 p.m., April 16, and 10 a.m.-noon, April 17, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Taft Church of Christ.
