Depending on what end of the county someone is on would depend on the severity of the storm that swept through White County early morning hours of Nov. 6.

According to E-911 Director Suzi Haston, some minor damage was reported across the county.

“We had some lines down across the county, around Pistole Road and up in that area,” said Haston. “We did get some information about some damage at the airport.”

Upper Cumberland Regional Airport Manager Dean Selby said there was severe damage done to some of the buildings on the property. He explained the roof of the structure belonging to Erlanger Medical Center was peeled back, and some storage trailers on the property were blown over onto their roofs and some structures were blown onto the runway itself.

“We had some roofing metal blow in from somewhere,” said Selby. “You wouldn’t believe it. The stuff looking north – it was just a little bit windy, the stuff looking south, everything was completely horizontal.”

Selby explained after White County Emergency Management Agency and Tennessee Emergency Management Agency came out and assessed the damaged, it was confirmed that the storm was an EF-0 tornado. The Enhanced Fujita scale rates tornadoes as to their intensity within six categories. EF-0 rating concludes that winds peak anywhere between 65-85 miles per hour.

According a news source in Nashville, one woman was killed as a result of the storms, in Rutherford County, and several others were injured. No deaths were reported in White County.
