At a recent meeting of the Captain Sally Tompkins Chapter #2123, United Daughters of the Confederacy, four chapter members were presented with Certificates recognizing their ancestors who served as Confederate soldiers during the War Between the States, 1861-1865.  To receive this recognition, members are required to research and prove the honorable military service of the ancestor as well as their genealogical lineage to him.

Marr Temples received certificates on six of her ancestors from Georgia:  James J. Beddingfield, John Beddingfield, Solomon Beddingfield, Henry Hosch, John Jacob Hosch and William Hill Hosch.   Amanda Roberts received a certificate on her ancestor, Hilliard J. Terry, who served in the Alabama Infantry.   Cathy Sullivan, received a certificate on her ancestor, John L. Ward, who served in the Tennessee Cavalry.   Edith Parman received two certificates for her ancestors, Jessie Shelton and Charles Lovell, both of whom served in the Tennessee Infantry.
