On April 27 and 28, the Van Buren High Eagles’ baseball team traveled to participate in the Grundy County tournament. The team lost game one, 5 to 3, on Friday night to Grundy County. However, the Eagles regained their courage, on Saturday, winning game two against the Central Magnet. During game three, the Eagles managed to come back in their fight to stay in the tournament, beating Coffee County by one run. This victory meant the Eagles had won more games than any other Eagles’ baseball team in Van Buren County High School history. The championship game against Coffee County was the second time the Eagles had faced their opponent. Members of the Eagles stated that they were full of energy and adrenaline; however, they were unable to pull off a second win against Coffee County. Players’ physical condition and over-exhaustion were the contributing factors for the Eagles to surrender the loss to Coffee County. The Eagles took second place proudly.
