At approximately 10:30 a.m. September 15 a motorcycle caught fire while sitting at a gas pump at the Wil Mar Gas station on Smithville Highway. Sheriff Steve Page was one of the first officers to arrive on the scene.

“When I got here the flames were as tall as the gas pumps,” said Page. “A man that was here had a chain and we used that to pull it away from the pumps. Then we used water from the store and an ice chest to put the fire out.”

Volunteer firefighters were able to put the fire out completely. The rider, nor anyone else, was injured in the incident.
