Celebrating senior night was not a small-scale event for the White County High School volleyball team. Before Monday night’s match against Smith County, WCHS honored the senior members of the squad. The four seniors suited up for their last home volleyball game and went out on the winning side defeating the visitors 2-0 (25-19 and 25-18).
The Warriorettes struggled at the beginning of the match falling behind 8-2. However, the Warriorettes would battle back and get the score to 7-9 with a Lauren Turner kill. Senior Hannah Leftwich would then step behind the service line and string together 7 straight points for the Warriorettes and give them a commanding 14-9 lead. Smith County would try to go on a run with the next 2 points, but Jade England would end that run with a kill and give the Warriorettes a serve back. Lauren Turner would then string together 4 straight points behind the serve line for the Warriorettes to provide them with a commanding 18-11 lead. The Warriorettes would use that big lead and finish out the game by a final score of 25-19.
In the second match, the Warriorettes and Smith County would start off the game trading out points. But, Senior Macee Allison would step behind the serve line and get 4 straight aces for the Warriorettes and give the Warriorettes an 11-6 lead. After a kill from England and two kills from Leftwich, the Warriorettes would lead 14-9. The Warriorettes would use the momentum and finished out the set winning 25-18.
England and Turner led the way for the Warriorettes getting seven kills apiece. Leftwich finished with six kills and led the team with two blocks.
The Warriorettes had a win, on Tuesday night, taking down Livingston Academy in two sets winning 2-0. The Warriorettes won the first set 25-18 and would go on to win the second set 25-12.
