Warrior tennis picks up a win over Cumberland County

The White County High School Warrior tennis team picked up their second win of the season, on Tuesday afternoon, against Cumberland County. The Warriors won all three of the matchups that they played, on Tuesday. The Warriorettes struggled in their matchup against Cumberland County, on Tuesday, winning only three of their nine matches.
On the Warriors’ side, Tyler Vaughn picked up an 8-2 win over Cumberland County’s Kevin Swallows in the top spot match. Eli McCormack also picked up an 8-4 win over Dillon Mitchell in the second spot. Zack Smith, Kurt Suggs, Jonas Fornehed, and Seth McCormack all picked up wins for the Warriors by default in the matchup since Cumberland County only had two tennis players in the boys’ match. In the doubles matchup, Fornehed and McCormack picked up an 8-3 win over Swallows and Mitchell to give the Warriors the win.
On the Warriorettes side, Macey Tollison and Evan Welch picked up wins in the singles matchups. Tollison won the two seed match over Elizabeth Squire 8-3, and Evan Welch picked up a 9-7 win over Kim Wooll in the six seed matchup 9-7. Emma Stewart came close to picking up a win in her matchup. Stewart and Erika Rodrigues tied and had to go to a tiebreaker. Stewart would win the tiebreaker 8-6. In doubles, Maelybeth Young and Tollison would pick up the only doubles matchup win for the Warriorettes. They won their match 8-4 in the top spot of the doubles matches.
The tennis team will return to action, on April 10, when they take on Livingston at home.
