Warriorette tennis team picks up their first win of the season

The White County High School Warriorette tennis team picked up its first win of the season, on Wednesday afternoon, when they had a makeup match against DeKalb County High School. The Warriorettes won six of their nine matchups against DeKalb County.
For the Warrior tennis team, the Warriors struggled in their matchup against DeKalb County, only winning two of their nine matchups.
In the Warriorettes’ singles matches, Macey Tollison won her matchup against Kayla Belk in the top spot. Tollison won 8-0 over Belk. In the second seed matchup, Emma Stewart won her matchup over Faith Judkins 8-3. Raylee Colwell won the fourth seed matchup over Marlene Cornilla 9-7. Allison Roberts also won the sixth seed matchup against Daisy Hernadez 8-1. Nautica Brown and Evan Welch also had a singles matchup. Brown was unable to pull out the win against Catherine Caplinger, and Welch lost her matchup against Jhoany Gosper 8-3.
In the doubles matches, the Warriorettes won two of their three matches. Tollison and Stewart won their match 8-2. The Warriorettes’ other win came from Welch and Roberts as they won their matchup 8-6. Brown and Colwell also teamed up together but were unable to pull out the win as they lost 8-5.
In the Warriors’ matches, Kurt Suggs picked up the Warriors’ only singles match win in the three seed match when he defeated Eli Cantrell 8-4. Tyler Vaughn lost his match against Lance Davis 8-4 in the top seed match. In the second seed, Jonas Fornehed lost to Ethan Cantrell 8-7. In the other matchups, Casey Russell lost to Dawson Medlies 8-2, and Wilson Ervin lost to Garret Hayes 8-3. Bouldin also lost his matchup to Dustin Wesher 8-0.
In the Warriors’ doubles matches, Ervin and Bouldin picked up the Warriors’ only win 8-2. Vaughn and Fornehed lost their matchup 8-1. Suggs and Russell also lost their matchup 8-3.
The Warriors and Warriorettes will return to action, on April 10, when they take on Livingston Academy at home. That match will begin at 4 p.m.
