Kelsey Roberts, who led the Warriorettes with 15 points in the loss to Bradley Central, drives down the middle of the paint to challenge the Bradley defense.

The Warriorette basketball team hung right with Bradley Central for most of Wednesday’s Region 3AAA championship game, but the Bearettes were about to pull away in the second half for the 53-42 win.
WCHS trailed by just two, 24-22, at the half. Bradley drained a couple of threes early in the third quarter and was able to push out to the 38-31 lead after three and then held on for the 11-point win.
Kelsey Roberts led the Warriorettes with 15 points. The post duo of Brooke Copeland and Rebecca Reuter combined for 42 f the 53 points scored by the Bearettes. Copeland led the way with 31 points.
The loss means the Warriorettes have to travel to Murfreesboro Saturday night to take on Riverdale (31-0) in the substate game. The winner earns a spot in the state tournament.
Saturday’s game is slated for a 7 p.m. tip off at Riverdale High School.
