Will Griggs catches a touchdown pass against Jackson County, on Friday morning.

The Warrior football team is inching closer and closer to opening night. They now have one scrimmage under their belt, with two more to go.

White County High School will host Cumberland County, at 5 p.m., on Friday, at the practice football field, at WCHS. The scrimmage was initially scheduled to be played at Cumberland County, on Friday, but the scrimmage has now been moved to White County High School.

The Warriors will look to build off some positives from last week’s scrimmage against Jackson Count, and will also look to fix some of their mistakes.

The Warriors will also hold the inaugural Warrior rumble at Dee Harris Field, on Aug. 4.

This event will include a Youth Skills Competition, a flag football tournament, and a car show.

The Youth Skills Competition is for students in grades one through 12. The entry fee is $10, and it will include passing accuracy and distance, punting accuracy and distance, and a field goal competition.

The Flag Football tournament is for any adult. It will be a 5-on-5 competition and will cost $10 per player. Each team can have a total of seven players, and the rules will be handed out at the field.

The day will wrap up with a concert at 6 p.m., with Shattered performing. Registration will be 9 a.m.-noon, at the stadium.
