Senior members of White County High School Marching Band display the awards presented during the 22nd Annual Upper Cumberland Marching Festival, which was Oct. 11, 2003, at Cumberland County High School. Bands competed in three categories, including overall band, color guard and drum major.
The criteria for judging was music, marching and general effect. Scores were evaluated on a scale of 1 to 5, with “1” denoting a superior rating. White County High School Band, which currently has a membership of 50, received a score of “1” in every category. The plaque was presented for Outstanding Performance and trophies were for Superior Color Guard and Superior Division One Band. Roger Mills, band director, said he is extremely proud of the band’s accomplishments.
“All the band members worked really hard to achieve their wins,” said Mills. “I am truly proud of these young people. They deserve these awards.”
