Several White County High School seniors participated in the Upper Cumberland Student Job Fair, on April 11, 2017, at Leslie Town Centre, in Cookeville. Seniors from White, Clay, Jackson, Overton and Putnam counties all participated in the event. There were over 30 companies present with employers actually interviewing the students.

In the fall of 2016, all WCHS seniors participated in “Interview Boot Camp.” This was led by senior Capstone teachers and academic/career coach Terri Douglas. The seniors worked on items such as: writing a cover letter and resume’ completing job applications, interviewing skills, etc. In the spring, those seniors who expressed interest in attending the job fair, once again, came together and worked with Mrs. Douglas to improve their cover letters and resumes even more. During the actual fair, students were able to interview with multiple employers. The main purpose of the event was for the students to experience what an actual job interview might be like. The students truly appreciated this opportunity, and for many of them, this was their very first “real” job interview. Though most of the participating employers were not looking to hire employees, many of our students were offered the opportunity for summer employment and possible internships while attending college in the fall.
