Morgan Quick tees off in a match from earlier this season. Quick finished in second place, on Thursday afternoon, with a 40.

Tyson Welch tees off in a match from earlier this season. Welch finished with his best round of the young season, on Thursday afternoon. He would finish with a round of 77.

It was a great day for the White County High School golfers in a three-way match against District 6AAA teams Thursday, at Sparta Country Club.

Both the Warriors and Warriorettes came out victorious on the afternoon in the 18-hole match. WCHS defeated both Warren County and Stone Memorial.

The Warriors finished the day with a 309 bolstered by a stellar 2-under 68 from Jarrett Glass. Tyson Welch finished with a 77. Trey Crockett (80) and Jeremiah Gardenhire (84) rounded out the scoring. Tanner Bumbalough and Tristen Roberts also played and finished their rounds with a 95 and 96.

WCHS came in 35 strokes ahead of Stone Memorial (344). Warren County only had three golfers for the match, so their score didn’t count.

On the girls’ side of things, the Warriorettes were the only team that had more than one golfer, so their score was the only one that counted to give them the win. The Warriorettes would only play 9 holes each.

Leading the way for the Warriorettes was Makenzie Morton who finished her round with a 37. Morgan Quick would end with a 40, and Ansley Phifer finished with a 44. Addi Selby, Maria Templeton, and McKena Young would also play. Selby would shot a 46, Templeton finished with a 52, and Young rounded out the scoring with a 64.

The Warriors and Warriorettes will only have a tournament this week. The Warriors and Warriorettes will travel to Cookeville to take part in the Early Bird Tournament at the TTU Golden Eagle Club.
