WCMS softball sweeps South Middle School

The White County Middle School softball team picked up two wins, on Monday night, over South Middle School. In the first game on Monday night, the Warriorettes used big first and second innings to take control of the game and pick up the 17-1 win. In the nightcap, the Warriorettes jumped out to an early 14-1 lead at the end of the first inning, and the game was called after that.
In the first game of the night, the Warriorettes used a big first inning, scoring eight runs in the inning to take an early 8-0 lead. The Warriorettes would use smart base running and a keen eye at the plate to get on base and score.
In the top of the second inning, South Middle School would get one of those runs back to cut the lead to 8-1. However, the Warriorettes would score nine runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 17-1 lead. In the top of the third inning, the Warriorettes would shut down South Middle School to pick up the 17-1 win.
Addison Abell would pick up the win in the circle for the Warriorettes. She went three innings, giving up one run and one hit. She would also strike out eight hitters.
In the second game, The Warriorettes would jump out to an early 14-1 lead at the end of the first inning, and the game would be called.
Alexis Hatmaker, Allison Thomas, and Ryleigh Burchett all finished the game with a hit for the Warriorettes. Sydney Smiley got the win for the Warriorettes going one inning and giving up one run.
The Warriorettes will return to action, on March 15, when they host Monterey Middle School. That game is set to begin at 5 p.m.
