The White County Middle School Warriors tried to do what no other team had been able to all season long, on Saturday afternoon, at Franklin County High School. The Warriors had the tough task of trying to take down the South Middle School Trojans, who came into the contest undefeated. Although the Warriors gave the Trojans their closest game of the year, the Trojans would pull away in the second half to pick up the 36-14 win.
The Trojans would strike first, scoring on their second play of the day to go up 8-0, with 3:21 remaining in the first quarter.
From there, neither team could do much for the remainder of the first half, until the Warriors tied the game up right before halftime. With the Warriors facing fourth down and 11, Owen Adams would find Conner Brewington for a 26-yard touchdown. Malachi Dowell would run the ball in for the two-point conversion to tie the game up heading into locker room.
In the second half, South would score twice to push their lead to 20-8. However, the Warriors would cut the lead to 20-14, with a 65-yard touchdown run by Nate Mullins. However, the Trojans would score two more times before the end of the game to close out the game and pick up the 36-14 win.
After the game, the Warriors had four members named to the All-Conference team. The members included Owen Adams, Malachi Dowell, Garrett Johnson, and James Littrell.
The 2018 season for the Warriors had highs and lows. The Warriors began the season dropping their first two contests but would follow that up with five straight wins to earn a spot in the CTC Bowl game. However, the Warriors would end the season with back-to-back losses to end the season with a 5-4 record.
