Robert Lindburg Booth, 54, of Sparta, passed away Sept. 25, 2004.
Booth was born June 3, 1950, in Kellysville, W.Va., to Lindburg Booth and Frances Marie Meadows Booth Hubbard.
He had been a carpenter.

Pumpkin Patch offers country fun

The Pumpkin Patch and Funland offers “good, clean country fun,” according to it’s owner, Mike Graham.
“We have a horse, turkeys, rabbits, goats, and baby calves, all for the little ones to enjoy,” Graham said.
The Pumpkin Patch and Funland also offers a bounce house, a corn maze, hay rides, volleyball, basketball, a picnic area and more. It is located at 4132 Cherry Creek Road in White County, where there is plenty of room to roam.
“We have lots of churches, school groups and senior citizens that come out here,” said Graham. “Pacesetters [groups] from all over middle Tennessee love to come here, too.”

Tammy V. Gibson Hensley, 43, of Sparta, passed away Sept. 22, 2004.
Hensley was born July 14, 1961, in Nashville, to Jim and Polly Smith Gibson.
She had been an alcohol and drug abuse counselor with Cheer Mental Health Center.
Hensley was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lena Smith, W.A. Gibson and Lilly Gibson.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Hensley; parents, Jim and Polly Smith Gibson; grandfather, Walter Smith; two uncles, Earl Smith, Von Smith; aunt, Joyce Whiteaker and her husband Terry, all of Sparta; and several cousins, Marla and Steve Moore, Emily and Tom Bennington, Baron Smith, Elijah Price and Smith Bennington.

Jail supervisor under investigation by TBI

District Attorney Bill Gibson has confirmed an investigation has been initiated against Don Wilson, chief of correction at White County Jail.
“I am aware of the fact that there is an investigation,” said Gibson. “We’re looking into certain allegations, but I can’t say what they are. We’re going to gather all the information and then take whatever steps are appropriate.”
Gibson said he was not at liberty to divulge any details of the investigation. However, The Expositor has been told by an unnamed source the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been questioning employees of White County Sheriff Department, which includes the correction department for the … CONTINUED

Irene Cantrell Dibrell, 93, of Watertown, passed away Sept. 15, 2004.
Dibrell was born Aug. 8, 1911, in Tullahoma, to Watt Cantrell and Matilda Landre Cantrell.
She was a retired recorder for the City of Watertown.
Dibrell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Cameron Dibrell; step-father, Carson Trawick; and two brothers, William Cantrell and Elmer Cantrell.

Ruby J. Hedges-Stewart, 90, of Spencer, passed away Sept. 13, 2004.
Hedges-Stewart was born May 2, 1914, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Joseph P. Gagne and Daisy E. Bedelle Gagne.
She had been a homemaker.
Hedges-Stewart was preceded in death by her parents; and two husbands, Lewis H. Hedges and William A. Stewart.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Barbara Hedges, of Spencer; grandchildren, James and Sue Hedges, of Ashburn, Va., David and Deborah Hedges, of Raleigh, N.C., Kimberly and Takis Patikas, of Nashville, Kristin and Warren Walden, of Highland Home, Ala.; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn Torkildson, of Minneapolis, Minn.

Jessie Elizabeth Lowery Smith, 82, of Sparta, passed away Sept. 11, 2004.
Smith was born Dec. 24, 1921, in White County, to Edger Lowery and Pearl Winstead Lowery.
She had been a secretary for government archives.
Smith was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Robert D. Smith.
Survivors include one sister, Louise Haston; one nephew, Tommy Gene Haston, both of Sparta; one niece, Diane Meeks, of Doyle; and several great nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Sept. 14, 2004, at Thurman Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Bill Welch will officiate.
Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
