Joe Sam Carter, 79, of Cookeville, passed away Jan. 31, 2007, at his residence.
Carter was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Silver Point, to Homer Henry Carter and Minnie Myrtle Murdock Carter.
He was a member of Hampton Crossroads Baptist Church, and had worked as an engineer.
Dolente was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Arthur Carter; and three sisters, Willie Flatt, Vera Pack, and Ruby Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Dora Marie Crislip Carter, of Cookeville; four children, David Michael Carter and wife Penny, of Ft. Collins, Colo., Steven Lee Carter and wife Tammy, of Clear Lake, Calif., Jo Anne Susan Carter Gottenbock and husband … CONTINUED

Charles William Dolente, 87, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 26, 2007, at Cumberland Medical Center.
Dolente was born Dec. 19, 1919, in Tewksbury, Mass., to Sarah Rhoades Dolente and Michael Dolente.
He had been a very active member in St. Andrew Catholic Church. Dolente served in the U.S. Army in World War II and received a World War II Victory Medal. He re-enlisted and was sent to serve in the European Campaign. He also received a Middle Eastern Dervice Medal and a Medal of Good Conduct.
Dolente was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Leona Mae Grause Dolente.
