In honor and remembrance of service to his country.

Robert Earl Dunn, 85, of Savannah, Ga., formerly of Franklin, N.C., passed away July 26, 2008, at Hospice Savannah.
Dunn was born and raised in Swain County, N.C.
 He joined the U.S. Air Force and was a surgical technician during World War II. Following the war, he went to work for Roller Bearing Co. of American, in Ewing, N.J., where he served as a department manager 14 years. Dunn then went to work as a juvenile officer for the State of New Jersey at the Training School for Boys where he served 17 years. He was twice voted Outstanding … CONTINUED

In honor and remembrance of service to his country.

Fred B. Denton, 81, passed away July 28, 2008, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Denton was born May 15, 1927, in White County, to Joseph Jasper and Nan Franks Denton.
Denton served in the U.S. Navy as Seaman First Class.
He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. Prior moving to Cookeville, he was a member of Ruth Ensor United Methodist Church, in Old Hickory, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, young people’s director, lay leader and president of the Methodist Men Club. Lawrence Lester (Jack) Lewis Sr.

In honor and remembrance of service to his country.

Lawrence Lester (Jack) Lewis Sr., 86, of Sparta, passed away July 25, 2008, at Parkwest Medical Center, in Knoxville.
Lewis was born Sept. 18, 1921, to Joseph and Mary Jones Lewis.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a retired school bus driver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Hyder Lewis; parents; five brothers, Clyde Lewis, Ray Lewis, Leslie Lewis, Bennie Lewis, Robert Lewis; three sisters, Jessie Rogers, Bessie Johnson, Nota Bennett; and granddaughter, Sherry Broom.
