It takes more transportation to … CONTINUED

A crazy brawl!

Posted on July 25, 2008 12:12 am by Sparta Live

If you watch ESPN at all, you’ve probably heard about or seen the big brawl during a basketball game Tuesday night.
The craziest thing about the fight is that it was during a WNBA game.  The thing that most disappointed me was that it involved one of my favorite players, Candace Parker.
If you know anything about me at all, you know that I don’t believe in fighting in sports in any way or for any reason.  (Okay, I guess boxing and MMA is okay, even though I don’t watch either one very much.)

Warrior head coach, Josh Kerr, speaks to those in attendance at the Region 4-4A preseason media day.

Coaches, selected players and various media outlets gathered … CONTINUED

Medical director approved

Posted on July 24, 2008 12:12 am by Sparta Live

Two commissioners voted against the resolution Monday night that set Gentry’s contract at an increase from $100 to $150 per hour for his services. However, the doctor was approved with 11 voting “yes.”  In addition, Gentry had asked for a pay increase from $10 to $12.75 per hour for an employee who would perform secretarial duties.
Some commissioners had originally expressed concern about the pay raise, because the contract had already been approved at a county commission meeting prior to the time … CONTINUED

Posted on July 24, 2008 12:12 am by Sparta Live

White County residents are receiving good news when county commissioners announced there would not be a property tax increase with the passage of the new budget.
The 2008-2009 fiscal plan was passed with three commissioners voting against the fiscal plan for the upcoming year. According to White County Finance Director Mark Farley, this year’s budget has an $807,945 increase from last year and is attributed to the schools, with the exception of 3-percent raises for county employees.
Joe B. England asked how much money would be left from last year’s budget. Farley said the county would probably have $100,000 remaining after all revenue has been documented.
Commissioners voting … CONTINUED
