Volleyball nets another 6AAA win

One of the challenges of coaching a young inexperienced team is one never knows what they are going to get out of the team, not just from day to day, but even from game to game of a set.

Cross Country hosts home meet

The White County High School cross country team will host their lone home meet of the season this Saturday, September 15th.
Over 325 runners from several different high schools and middle schools will converge on the Voyles’ Farm in Cassville for the third edition of the Backyard Invite.
WCHS coach, Mark Voyles, who will be hosting the meet on his farm, commented, “The Backyard Invitational is becoming more and more popular each year, and this year is no exception with over 325 entries to date. EMS director position is still vacant

A longtime employee of White County Emergency Medical Services once again appeared before commissioners to answer questions about his administrative skills and how he would improve the ambulance service if he were chosen as the new director.
Billy Price, a paramedic and longtime EMS employee, addressed commissioners at the meetings of Steering Committee A and Steering Committee B, on Sept. 10, 2012. Price faced the questions head-on, despite being rejected by commissioners for the director’s position during the July 16, 2012, meeting of the county court.

Alleged synthetic marijuana dealer is arrested

The White County Sheriff Department, working with Van Buren County law enforcement, conducted what they describe as a “reverse sting” of an alleged synthetic marijuana dealer that has landed Spencer resident Dakota Dusty Robinson in the White County Justice Center on $30,000 bond.
According to a report by the White County Sheriff Department, the department received information from the Van Buren County Sheriff Department that Robinson was reportedly involved in selling synthetic marijuana in Van Buren County that he had purchased in White County.

E-911 anxious about narrowbanding deadline

With the Federal Communications Commission’s Jan. 1 deadline for narrowbanding approximately three-and-a-half months away, the E-911 Board of Directors expressed apprehension at the Sept. 10 meeting that the 90-day timeline outlined in the yet-unsigned contract is a bit too close for comfort.
Director Greg England explained he believes a completed contract between 911 and Communications Evolutions, who won the bid for the narrowbanding project, will happen very soon, and he believes Communications Evolutions will find the latest version of the contract acceptable.

To say Friday’s football game between the Warriors and Red Raiders in Manchester has a lot riding on it would be an understatement.
Neither team has won a game yet, but a single win of the District 6AAA variety can go a long way in setting up the winner for a shot at a playoff berth.

WCMS drops homecoming contest to Harris Middle

Never forget. The White County Middle School football team made their entrance with a U.S. Flag during Tuesday’s game in remembrance of the events of 9/11.

Harris Middle School came to Warrior Stadium and spoiled homecoming for the White County Middle School football team.

District 6AAA champs. The Warrior golf team won the District 6AAA championship Monday playing at the McMinnville Country Club. A.J. WCHS soccer drops district match to Warren Co.

Going into the half of their District 6AAA match against Warren County on Monday at home, the Warriorette soccer team was in good shape.
The Lady Pioneers, however, turned a 2-1 halftime advantage in a 6-1 district win in the final period of play.
Warren County scored the first two goals of the game and held that lead until right before the half when Sarah Webb pulled the Warriorettes within a goal with three minutes left in the period.

Frederick Messerschmitt Jr.

Frederick Messerschmitt Jr., 53, of Sparta, passed away Sept. 6, 2012, St. Thomas Hospital, in Nashville, after a long illness.
Mr. Messerschmitt was born Jan. 2, 1959, in New Jersey, to Frederick Messerschmitt and Helen Yourkonis Messerschmitt.
Funeral service was 2 p.m., Sept. 9, 2012, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial at Plainview Cemetery, in the Cassville community.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
