One transported by Life Flight in Highway 111 crash

A crash on June 22 in northern Van Buren County on Highway 111 injured three individuals. One was sent by Life Flight to Vanderbilt after reportedly being pinned in the vehicle for two hours.

A two-vehicle crash that occurred on the evening of June 22 injured three and sent one to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by Life Flight.
According to Capt. R.C. Christian, of Tennessee Highway Patrol, Stanley P. Wain, of Spencer, was traveling south on Highway 111 in a 2007 Hyundai.
Mitchell A. Lautigar and his passenger Jody Lautigar were traveling north on Highway 111 in a 2011 Honda.

Voters will face tough decisions in Aug. 7 election

An election of the magnitude that will be witnessed on Aug. 7, 2014, is an event that only occurs every eight years and may prove to be a day of decision-making where voters could keep things status quo or choose new faces for the numerous positions on the ballot.
According to documentation from White County Election Commission office, there are 93 candidates on the ballot who are vying for a multitude of offices.

Three charged with murder

After an investigation spanning several months, Daniel Joe Honaker Jr., Jared Dewayne Holmes and Bart Kirby have been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault resulting in the death another, for the murder of John Howard Shoemaker III on April 7. More information will be available in tomorrow’s edition of The Expositor.

Hardee’s is getting a facelift! Construction crews are currently installing a new entrance into the restaurant and the kitchen area has also received updates, according to management.

Walmart, in Sparta, will be hosting a baby fashion show, 9 a.m.-noon, June 28, 2014. A sign-up sheet will be at the service desk. Donation is due when you sign up and is non-refundable. Each child will be modeling clothing from Walmart.

Weldon appointed CFO for Highlands Medical Center

Jennifer Weldon has been named Chief Financial Officer for Highlands Medical Center (HMC) in Sparta, TN, effective July 1, according to Bill Little, Chief Executive Officer. With 10 years of hospital accounting experience, including seven in management, she brings a proven track record to her new position.

Weldon joined Capella Healthcare, with which HMC is affiliated, in 2007 as Controller at Capital Medical Center, a 110-bed hospital in Olympia, WA. She was promoted to Assistant CFO at EASTAR Health System, a 275-bed two-campus hospital in Muskogee, OK, where she also served as Interim CFO. 9/10 All Star baseball squad hits field Friday

Several strengths will lead the team

Sparta Little League is only fielding three All Star teams this season and one of those is the 9/10 year old baseball All Star team.

They will begin their quest for a trip to the state this weekend at the area tournament in Gallatin.

Patrick Noonan, the manager of the All Star squad, feels his 9/10 year has several strengths, one of which is power at the plate.

8 & under Stars start area play in Lebanon Friday

8-under All Stars in new territory

Although in their regular season, they played by pitching machine rules, things have changed for the eight and under baseball all stars.

When they step in the batter’s box for All Star tournament play, there will be no pitching machine on the field. They will be hitting off a live arm, albeit from one of their coaches, but it’s still a totally different look than they have seen all season.

Sparta manager, Dave Pinion, believes this is one of the biggest obstacles his team will face during this weekend’s tournament in Lebanon.
