Warriors overcome Ooltewah in the second half

The Warrior basketball team overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Ooltewah 79-72.

Pierce Whited hit seven treys on the way to 29 points.  Jacob Fresh added 22 points.

The Warriors improve to 5-0 on the season.

Despite 19 first half points from Pierce Whited, the Warriors trail the Ooltewah Owls 40-31 at the half.


Warriorettes roll past Ooltewah

After a slow start, the Warriorettes kicked it in high gear and rolled past Ooltewah 69-33.

Deandra Luna (17) and Hannah Leftwich (16) combined for 33 points in the win.

Searching for Pearl Harbor veterans

SpartaLive and The Expositor are searching for a World War II veteran who was stationed at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, and who resides in White County.  The Expositor has published three stories with Pearl Harbor veterans in the past, with one posthumously.  We are now searching for any others who may have been at the U.S. naval base on that fateful day. The Friends of White County Animals would like to extend a thank you to everyone who has donated at the White County Farmers Co-op pet food donation bin/pet food drive. The food drive is ongoing, but on the week that the Friends conducted a special push to receive dog and cat food donations, the public came through with generous amounts.

Friends of White County Animals would like to thank White County Co-op employee Kaydee Johnston for helping make this food drive a success. Everyone who cares about the animals in White County is greatly appreciated.

Rose Lee Parrish Kirk

Rose Lee Parrish Kirk, 87, of Sparta, passed away Nov. 30, 2015, at Bethesda Health Care Center, in Cookeville.

Mrs. Kirk was born June 17, 1928, in White County, to William Martin Parrish and Annie Brady Parrish.

She retired after 27 years as a switchboard operator for Tennessee Department of Mental Health and was a member of East Sparta Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Kirk; sister, Gladys Winnett; and five brothers, Elbert Parrish, Otis Parrish, Edward Parrish, Eugene Parrish and James Parrish.

Survivors include her brother, Artie Cecil Parrish and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
