The Warriors fall to East Hamilton 56-52. Pierce Whited led the Warriors will 11 points and Cole Crossland finished with 10 points. The Warriors finish the season with a 25-7 record.

The Eastland Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their last breakfast until next fall this Saturday, March 4. The breakfast will include pancakes, country ham, eggs cooked to your preference, fresh coffee, and other drinks of your choice. The cost is $7 per person and breakfast will be served from 6 – 10 am and will be at the fire hall on Eastland Rd. Come out and support your local fire department and help make sure they have the necessary funding to better serve your community.

Earlier this morning Feb. 28, the Sparta/White County Chamber of Commerce held their “Business Before Hours” event sponsored by CB Trucking at the Mad Raven Bookstore on Bockman Way. There was a very crowed room of chamber members who gathered for breakfast and coffee to discuss the latest events going on in Sparta and White County. Sparta City Mayor Jeff Young took an opportunity to discuss those who attended the event this morning about upcoming projects happening in the City. Helen Ann Worley, 62, of Cookeville, passed away Feb. 26, 2017.
She was born Feb. 28, 1954, in Harriman, the daughter of Anderson Worley and Celia Edwards Worley.
She was retired after many years from AT&T as a telecommunications specialist. She was a gifted seamstress who loved to quilt and was also an excellent cook, especially baking. At one time she owned her own bakery, “Helen’s Bake Shop,” in Harriman. She also enjoyed traveling and going to flea markets and yard sales.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Anderson Worley Jr.; and sisters, Alice Barnes and Betty Clark.

The Van Buren County High School Eaglettes have made it back to the Region 3A Championship game with a 67-49 win over Silverdale Academy. Silverdale finished in fished in first place during the 5A District Tournament.
With the win, the Eaglettes are guaranteed to be in a sectional game on Saturday night. Whether they will host a sectional game will depend on whether they can defeat Marion County on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. CT at Marion County High School.
