Local citizens were shocked after a one-vehicle collision took the life of Les Allen West, 18, of Sparta, early Friday morning. West died of head injuries he sustained in the wreck, shortly after he arrived at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
At approximately 6:04 a.m., the Emergency 911 Center dispatched the Sparta Police Department to the scene of the accident in front of Floyd’s CB Foods on Bockman Way. Family, friends and bystanders watched as members of the Sparta Fire Department, White County EMS and Sparta-White County Rescue Squad worked to extricate West from the truck.
