In honor and remembrance of service to his country.

Earl E. Kay, 81, passed away at his home in Sparta on Sept. 30, 2008.
Kay was born May 18, 1927, in Shawnee, Okla., to Dorothy Mae Owen Kay and Emmett Earl Kay.
 He retired as a mechanic from Colorado Department of Highways, in 1988. Kay was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sparta and enjoyed mission work, church and family activities. Other favorite pastimes included camping and fishing, restoring old cars and making homemade ice cream.
Kay was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Erma Nell Sharp Kay, of Sparta; two sons, Eddie E. Kay and wife Pamela, Dennis R. Kay and wife Shelley, all of Sparta; two daughters, Dorothy Carol Kay, of Sparta, Bonnie A. Fisher and husband Michael, of Ft. Collins, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Lana Agan, of North Potomac, Md., Erin Rager, Ellen Kay, both of Jackson, John Kay, of Chattanooga, Andrew Fisher, of Ft. Collins, Colo., Keith Fisher, of Bridgewater, Va., Lynnel Seevers, Lindsey Seevers, Dillon Kay, all of Sparta; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Oct. 4, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Sparta, with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m., Oct. 3, 2008, at the funeral home and from noon-2 p.m., Oct. 4, at the church. J.D. Davis will officiate.
