Drew Holland prepares for a drive during a recent golf match.

With three out of five scores reported at the end of Thursday’s match, the Warrior golf team held a three stoke lead over archrival Cookeville.
However, when all the scores were in, the Cavaliers had forged ahead to take a six-stroke victory over WCHS in a District 6AAA match. The Lady Cavaliers also defeated the Warriorettes.
A.J. Wilkerson paced the Warriors with a 1-under 34 for the match, but Cookeville’s Cody Harrington was the low medalist for the day with a 2-under 33.
The Warriors shot a 149 as a team while the Cavaliers came in with a 143. In addition to Wilkerson, Drew Holland added a 37. The rest of the WCHS scores were Jesse Villard (38), Caleb Winton (40) and Jonathan Griffin (46).
White County’s Allison Geer led the girls’ field with a 37, but Cookeville took the team victory with a 77. For WCHS, Andrea Sergio added a 52 and Gabriella Farley a 58.
WCHS returns to action Monday at Cookeville Country Club in an 18-hole match against Cookeville and Warren County. That is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
