Jack Leron Cothran, 84, of Sparta, passed away Nov. 29, 2019, at Life Care Center of Sparta.
Mr. Cothran was born Aug. 25, 1935, in Central, South Carolina, to George Washington Cothran and Mary Ann Hicks Cothran.
He was a graduate of Central High School, in Central, South Carolina, and then attended Tri-Country Technical College, in Clemson, South Carolina, where he obtained his associate degree. He later attended Tennessee Tech University, in Cookeville.
Mr. Cothran was plant manager for Mallory Timers for approximately 25 years. He attended First Baptist Church, in Sparta, for many years. Mr. Cothran loved his family, his friends, music, his community, fishing, and golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steve Anthony Cothran; a brother, Marion Cothran; and a brother-in-law, Gerald Dodson.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Marnell Cothran, of Sparta; daughter, Angela Cannon and husband Grover, of Sparta; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Cothran; grandchildren, Anthony Brian Cannon (Fabiola), of Midland, Texas, William Elliott Cannon, of Sparta, William Joseph Cannon, of Sparta, Yuliana Lopez, of Midland, Texas, Sonja Hardin, of Cookeville, Marc Hardin, of Cookeville; a special young man, Crayley Michael Rivers, who is stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia; sister, Carolyn Dodson, of Easley, South Carolina; brother, David Cothran (Jane), of Anderson, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 6 p.m., Dec. 2, 2019, at First Baptist Church, in Sparta. Bro. Brad Walker, Bro. John Rushing, and Bro. Kevin Weldon will officiate. The family will receive friends 3-6 p.m., Dec. 2, at the church. A graveside service will be 3 p.m., Dec. 4, 2019, at Memory Gardens, in Central, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the building fund for First Baptist Church, in Sparta.
