James A. Harold Rice

James A. Harold Rice, 80 of Sparta, passed away Nov. 24, 2019, at NHC Healthcare of Smithville.

Mr. Rice was born Oct. 21, 1939, to Wesley Rice and Nancy Steele Rice.

He retired from Brady Printing Company as a printer after nearly 40 years of service.  He was a licensed Church of Christ minister until 2011, serving in the Keltonburg and Campaign churches.  Mr. Rice served his country in the United States Army and has attended First United Pentecostal Church, in Cookeville, with his caregiver, since 2012.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and three brothers.

Survivors include his friend and caregiver, Cathy Randolph, and her family, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service was 2 p.m., Nov. 26, 2019, at Hunter Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors by the Veterans’ Honor Guard followed, in Judd Cemetery, in Putnam County. Bishop Ron Phillips and Pastor Tim Milligan officiated.

Josh Zent, Ben Hopkins, James Randolph, Justin Randolph, Steve Moggo, and Dalton Randolph served as pallbearers.

Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
