Jimmy Dwayne Gunter Sr.

Jimmy D. Gunter Sr., 47, of Spencer, passed away Jan. 27, 2013, at his residence after a 10- month battle with esophageal cancer, with his loving wife of 29 years, Frances Young Wallace Gunter. at his bedside.
Mr. Gunter was born June 19, 1965, in Roane County, to Richard Arthell Gunter and Louella Wilson Gunter.
Mr. Gunter worked as a welder/pipefitter at Tennessee Metal Fabrications, in Rock Island. He was also a cattle and farm hand, an avid fisherman, and firearm and archery hunter. He loved to ride ATVs, motorcycles and horses. He was an excellent mechanic, wonderful grill cook, loving friend, and great son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. Above all, he became a child of God. Thank you Chaplin J. C. for your friendship and guidance, as well as everyone at Avalon Hospice for such loving care.
Survivors include two sons, Matthew Wallace and wife Amanda, of Sparta, Jimmy D. Gunter Jr. of Spencer; two daughters Hattie Sartin and husband Robert Jr., of Smithville, Ella Gunter, of Spencer; three grandchildren, Jordan Matthew, Alexis Grace Wallace, of Sparta, Benjamin Robert Sartin, of Smithville; brother, Allen Gunter and wife Vicky, of Rock Island; and too many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles to name; special friends who have stood by him through good times and bad, Rick and Patty Simmons, of Spencer, Dave and Kimberly Cole, of Doyle; and his beloved dachshund, “Puppy Sue Gunter.”
In keeping with Mr. Gunter’s wishes, his choice was cremation. There will be a private service at a later date.
