Katie B. Howard Bean, 91, of Cookeville, passed away March 6, 2007, at Bethesda Health Care Center.
Bean was born December 29, 1915, in Putnam County, to Richie Howard and Ada Buckner.
Bean and her husband owned and operated several restaurants and bakeries, and she retired from Rose’s Department Store, in 1988.
She was preceded in death by husband, J. Lee Bean; her parents; two sisters, Ethel Watson and Martha Sloan; and brother-in-law, Carl Bean.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Joe Lawson, of Dodson Branch Community; one son and daughter-in-law, Jere and Leigh Bean, of Henderson, Nev.; two grandsons, Doug Freeman, of Cookeville, and Jonathan Chaffin, of Livingston; one step-granddaughter, Kristie Lawson Dibrell, of Sparta; three great-granddaughters, Eleanor Freeman and Emma Freeman, of Cookeville, and Ezibelle Chaffin, of Livingston; brother-in-law and wife, Herman and Becky Bean, of Cookeville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 1 p.m., March 9, 2007, at Dyer Funeral Home with burial in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. James Wilkins and Bro. Bobby Floyd officiated.
Dyer Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
