Lendel Gibson, 79, of Sparta, passed away Aug. 10, 2005.
Gibson was born July 6, 1926, in Sturgis, Ky., to Rev. A. A. Gibson and Edith Brown Gibson.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
Gibson was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ricky Gibson; brother, Losite Gibson; one sister and brother-in-law, Lorene and J.D. Morse.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Gibson, of Sparta; one daughter, Lisa Bradley Hickey and husband Scott, of Sparta; three sons, Gary Gibson and wife Judy, of Sparta, Michael Gibson and wife Teresa, of Baxter, Roger Gibson and wife Anita, of Sparta; one sister, Lilda Burnham, of Kentucky; one brother, Dan Gibson, of Huntington, Ind.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were 11 a.m., Aug. 13, 2005, at Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. Doug Benningfield and Fate Wilson officiated.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
