Mamie Ruth “Boots” Rice

Mamie Ruth Shockley “Boots” Rice, 80, of Disneyland Road, passed away March 27, 2019.

Mrs. Rice was born March 7, 1939, in Spencer, to Joe Willy Shockley and Demie Martin Shockley.

She was retired from Mallory. Mrs. Rice had been a long-time caregiver and a member of the Ole Country Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Ades Rice; daughter, Sarah Rice; son, Tony Rice; and a grandson, Keaton Rice.

Survivors include her children, Rita Rice, of Sparta,  Sherry (Bino) Bouldin, of Rock Island, James Rice, of Sparta; grandchildren, Susan Smith, Cindy (Mickey) Robinson, Dwayne Simons, Brent England, Kendra Lee, Terri Phillips, Misty Rice, Chris Rice, Kaleb Billings, Haley Carr; step-grandchildren, Kelly Sheppard, Tessa Turner Jase Bouldin

great-grandchildren, Ralee, Tucker, Teegan, Jayden, Brilyn, MeKellus, Emmaus, Dailynn; sisters, Mattie Lorene Russell, of Spencer, Nellie Bickford, of Rock Island; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Darlene Rice, of Columbia; special friends, Lynn Haston, Ann DeLoach; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., March 31, 2019, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in the Doyle Cemetery. Nathan Hawkins and William Shockley will officiate. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., March 30, at the funeral home.

William Shockley, Ron Bumbalough, Austin Bumbalough, Shane Rigsby, Freddie Solomon, and Shea Basham will serve as pallbearers.

Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
