White County has a new finance director after final deliberations on Sept. 5 that took a little more than two hours.
Members of White County Financial Management Committee had conducted interviews Sept. 4 with 12 finalists out of 19 applicants. On Sept. 5, the number had been narrowed to three: Robert Apple, of Sparta, Robert Scarbrough, of Crossville, and Chad Marcum, of Sparta.
According to Paul Bailey, chairman of WCFMC, the vote was unanimous for Marcum.
Prior to the final interviews, which began at 3:30 p.m., Sept. 5, a meeting was held at White County Courthouse that was open to county officials to give them an opportunity to question Apple, Marcum and Scarbrough.
Marcum, a 2003 graduate of White County High School, is a certified public accountant and employed by Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury – Division of Local Government Audit. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in business administration – accounting major and a Masters of Business Administration – accounting concentration, both from Tennessee Technological University.
Marcum will begin his duties as White County finance director in approximately three weeks.
