Mark Raymond Howard, 98 of Sparta, passed Feb. 21, 2014, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Howard was born Nov. 10, 1915, in White County, to Milus and Katie Dement Carter Howard.
He always lived in the same area of White County. He was a member of Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church and active member of Sunday School and church and served as a deacon in his younger years. He enjoyed farming, woodworking and visiting family and friends. He was blessed with a long and successful life, and he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Auda Lora Pistole Howard; grandchildren, Mark Wesley Ragland, Benjamin Eugene Ragland, Scarlett Howard, Rayvenna Anderson, Lora Beth Howard; brothers, Clifford and Hartford Howard; and sisters, Alma Roberts, Mayme Burgess and Dimple Scott.
Survivors include two daughters and their spouses, Judy and C.J. Lee, of Baxter, Barbara and Bob Holman, of Sparta; two sons and their spouses, David and Louise Howard, Ted and Phyllis Howard, all of Sparta; 11 grandchildren, Russell (Nicole) Howard, Christopher Howard, Michael Clifty Howard, Kerry Wayne Ragland, Jeffrey Bryan (Rhonda) Ragland, Kyle Savage Ragland, Cynthia Ellen Stoglin, Dana Gail (Kendell) Fike, Derrick Lane (Sherry) Anderson, Scott Allen (Tami) Howard, James William “Bo” (Brook) Howard; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 11 a.m., Feb. 25, 2014, at Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church, with burial in Howard Cemetery. James Haynes and Roy Spears officiated.
Memorials may be made to Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church Building Fund.
