Mary Ruth Brock, 83, of Sparta, went home to be with the Lord, on Jan. 16, 2013.
Mrs. Brock was born Nov. 30, 1929, in White County, to Alvin V. Young Sr. and Ida Mae O’Dell Young.
She was a loving mother and was well loved by family and friends in the community.
Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Brenda Smith; her husband of 35 years, Jack Brock; and two brothers, Alvin Young Jr. and James Young.
Survivors include her son, Tommy Brock and wife Karen, of Sparta; four daughters, Debbie Wood and husband Steve, of Sparta, Teresa Smith, of Sparta, Pam Dillard and husband James, of Hickman, Mary Ann Davis and husband Jack, of Sparta; special son-in-law, Noah Smith, of Sparta; two sisters, Dolly Rice, of Sparta, Ada Prater and husband Bill, of Sparta; seven grandchildren, Belinda Brown and Joe, Shannon Smith and Michelle, Mandy Cole and Eddie, Brandon Crawford and Sheila, Jonathon Smith and Holly, Heather Dodson and Rusty, Cassie Treadway and J.J.; and seven great-grandchildren, Charlene Brown, Arlene Brown, Alissa Cole, Hannah Crawford, Kyson Taylor, Jackson Dodson and baby Joseph.
Funeral service was 1 p.m., Jan. 20, 2013, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Jerry Young and Larry Dye officiated.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
