Norma Jean Rice Gardner

Norma Jean Rice Gardner, 86, of Gulf Shores, Alabama, formerly of Quebeck, Tennessee, passed away Nov. 29, 2019, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Gardner was born Oct. 25, 1933, in Sparta, to Norman Rice and Addie B. Emerton.

She was married 50 years to James Ray Gardner.

Mrs. Gardner was retired from the Packaging Division of Nestle’ Corporation.

She loved to watch Hallmark shows, quilting, and sending cards to family, friends, and fellow church members. She was a member of Quebeck Church of Christ.

Mrs. Gardner was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; eldest son, James Gardner; sister, Ann Frasier;  and brothers, Clayton Rice, Charlie Rice, and Larry Rice.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Wayne and Lori Gardner, Tim and Robin Gardner, Sarah Jo “Jodie” and Roy Cooley; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral service will be noon, Dec. 7, 2019, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10 a.m.-noon, Dec. 7, at the funeral home. Don Shuster will officiate the service.

Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
