Flossie Bush Jared Vetitoe, 88, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2002 at Bethesda Health Care Center.
Flossie was born October 8, 1913 in Smith County, Tenn. to Francis Asberry “Duck” & Fannie Victoria “Vic”Bush.
She retired from McCloud Corportation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Jared and Willie Vetitoe, her sister, Bessie almeda and two brothers, Sidney and Hershel Bush.

Kathleen Tollison Sullivan, 69, passed away May 19, 2002 in Palm Garden, FLA.
Kathleen was born June 28, 1932 in Sparta, Tenn.
She was a school bus driver.
Survivors include: husband, William Sullivan of Winter Haven, FLA.; two sons, Ronald G. Sullivan of Winter Haven, FLA. and William G. Sullivan of Durham, NC; two sisters, Ruth McCulley of St. Claire Shores, Mich. and Linda Billings of LaGrange, KY.; two brothers, Billy Tollison of Doyle, Tenn. and Doyle Tollison of Imlay City, Mich. ; three grandchildren.

Ora Alice Johnson, 99, passed away May 17, 2002 at National Health Corp. of Sparta.
Ora was born August 19, 1902 in White County, Tenn. to Thomas Walter and Sally Brown Johnson.
She was a clerk and master of Sparta and retired school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters.
Survivors include: two nieces, family and friends.
Services
were held Sunday, May 19, 2002 at 2:00 pm at Highland Cemetery and burial to follow. Johathan Angel officiated.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Benny was born February 24, 1958 to Ben and Rose Vinson Fish in Rockwood, Tenn.
He was a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Wilson and three brothers, Glen, Ronnie and Donnie Fish.

Woodrow Wilson, 86, passed away May 18, 2002.
Woodrow was a member of Lonewood Baptist Church and a Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil Wilson; three sisters, Mary Sommons, Matt Wallace and Addie Bell Graham; one grandson, Ricky Wilson, Jr.
Survivors include: his wife, Ola VanWinkle Wilson; three sons, Burrford Wilson, Anthony Wilson and Ricky Wilson; five grandchildren, Brian, Priscilla, Kimberly, Marcia and Michelle; five great-grandchildren, Charlie, Alex, Cory, Diana and Mariah; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held May 21, 2002 at 2:00 pm CST at Lonewood Baptist Church. Burial will be in Graveyard Ridge Cemetery.

Lulu Virgie Jones Brendle, 91, passed away May 20, 2002 at Calhoun County Medical Center in Battle Creek, MI.
Lulu born November 11, 1910 in White County to Earl Lafate Cates and Virgie Young Cates.
She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, Robin C. Jones and Dan Brendle.
Survivors include: one son and daughter in law, Bobby and Helen Jones of Battle Creek, MI.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held May 24, 2002 at 1:00 pm at Chapel Thurman Funeral Home. Burial will be at Old New Hope Cemetery. Bro. Carson Whiteaker will officiate.

Taylor keeps Sparta rolling

Charles Taylor, owner of Sparta New and Used Tires, offers many services through his shop located at 146 Mayberry Street.
Besides offering the tire lines of Regal, B. F. Goodrich, Michelin and Kumho, Taylor offers alternate brands as well, and he performs tire alignments, balancing and brakes service on most makes and models of vehicles.
His address was 156 Mayberry until a few weeks ago when local 911 services informed him his address was changed to 146 Mayberry.
His address may have changed but his building remains in its original location where Taylor has been in the vehicle services business for ten years.

Subdivision roads spark intense discussion at county commission meeting

The White County Commission addressed various orders of business on Monday night, but one item on the agenda led to a somewhat intense discussion that was led by Commissioner Richard Lane.
A resolution to adopt new roads in three subdivisions in White County prompted Lane to question if the roads were developed to the standards required by the county.
Commission Vice-Chairman Kenneth Milligan reminded Lane the county had approved the official road list in February or March and these three roads needed to be added.
