Unless the city sales tax of .50% is repealed, the newly proposed increase to the White county sales tax up to 2.75% and combined with the city sales tax of .50% exceeds the total allowed tax rate of 2.75%, to 3.25%. This 3.25% added to the state sales tax of 7% would bring White County Sales Tax to 10.25% . This would be the highest in the entire state and above the 9.75% threshold by the Tennessee state. Please clarify. Thank you.
