David Allan Walker, 31, of Cookeville; and Elizabeth Marie Walker, 35, of Cookeville.

Investigation. Investigators with Sparta Police Department search for clues at the site of an attempted robbery at Kwik Kash Pawnshop, on North Spring Street in Sparta. The two perpetrators were reportedly arrested in Cookeville approximately 24 hours after the incident.

On June 28, Cookeville Police officers arrested David Allen Walker, 31, and Elizabeth Marie Walker, 35, at a Cookeville residence, just one day after they allegedly tried to rob the Kwik Kash Pawn Shop, on North Spring Street, in Sparta.
At approximately 9:37 a.m., on June 27, the owner of the Sparta pawnshop noticed a male had grabbed a tray of jewelry from behind the counter and was attempting to put the merchandise in the female’s purse, according to Sparta Patrolman David Grissom.
Grissom stated the couple dropped the merchandise after being confronted and fled the store. A description of the couple and their get-away vehicle was issued to surrounding law enforcement agencies.
The identity of the couple was reportedly obtained and, according to Cookeville Police Sgt. Mitch Harrington, officers began looking for the vehicle.
Harrington stated the suspects’ vehicle was found down the street from the residence of one of the suspect’s mother.
Officers reportedly found the suspects hiding in the residence, where they were flushed out by a Cookeville PD K-9 officer and taken into custody.
They were transported to Putnam County Justice Center and held until they could be transferred to White County Justice Center.
Both suspects were charged with robbery and each held on $5,000 bonds.
They are scheduled for their first court appearances on July 1.
