Robert “Bob” Edward McMillan, 73, of Cookeville, passed away June 9, 2002, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
McMillan was born Nov. 12, 1928, in Williamson County, to Frank and Mary Galavin McMillan.
He was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ, where he served as an elder and deacon for many years. McMillan was an avid supporter of Tennessee Tech and was named as Honorary alumnus in 1976. He served on the Tennessee Tech Sports Hall of Fame committee and the scholarships selection committee for the College of Arts and Sciences. McMillan was the manager of Woodbine’s Dry Goods for 31 years. In 1991, he began working at J.C. Penney in the Cookeville Mall and remained there until his illness.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Martha Louise James McMillan of Cookeville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Elaine McMillan of Sparta of Smyrna Kim and Claire McMillan of Cookeville and Scott and Geeta McMillan of Sparta; and two grandchildren.
Services were held at 11 a.m., June 12, 2002, at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Cookeville with burial in Cookeville City Cemetery. Bro. Gary Hampton and Bro. Glen McDoniel officiated.
Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home in Cookeville was in charge of arrangements.
