Sonic Shootout opening day results

The Sonic Shootout got underway Monday at Roy Sewell Gymnasium with eight teams (four girls’ and four boys’ teams) advancing into the semifinals while eight others fell into the consolation bracket.
The Warriorettes advanced to the semifinals with a 49-43 win over Daniel Boone. Tasha Delaney and Jessica Wilson combined for 30 points in the win. The Warriorettes outscored DB 17-5 in the third quarter after holding a narrow 15-12 halftime lead.
The Warriors fell into the consolation bracket with a 71-57 loss to Daniel Boone. The Warriors led 20-18 after one quarter, but the Trailblazers outscored them 27-9 in the second quarter. Devon Davidson led the way for the Warriors with 17 points.
In other girls’ action, Cannon County stay undefeated with a 66-56 win over Science Hill. The Sevier County girls defeated McMinn County 55-43 and Franklin County took a 59-48 win over DeKalb County.
Additional boys’ action saw Cannon County hand Franklin County a 65-60 defeat. McMinn Boys’ edged DeKalb County 73-67 in overtime and Sevier County held off Gallatin for the 53-48 victory.
