At approximately 12:30 p.m., March 26, 2021, Sparta Police Department and White County Emergency Medical Service were dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of South Carter Street and West Bockman Way.

Upon arrival, it was reportedly determined that a 1999 Dodge R15, driven by a 15-year-old, failed to yield at the traffic light while traveling east on Bockman Way. According to a witness, the traffic signal was red for the traffic along Bockman Way.

The failure to obey the signal resulted in the vehicle reportedly striking and disabling a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Sarah Brock, of Doyle. Brock was traveling north on South Carter Street and proceeded into the intersection upon the traffic signal turning green for the crossing traffic.

After striking Brock’s vehicle, the Dodge truck reportedly continued to travel east on Bockman Way for several yards where the witness blocked the roadway with his vehicle, and the driver was forced to pull the vehicle into a parking lot adjoining the ERG Realty office on the south side of Bockman Way.

Sparta Fire Department directed traffic around Brock’s disabled vehicle, while EMS assessed the driver of the Dodge truck and the three passengers, two of which were 13 years old and one of whom was 19 years old. Brock was also checked by EMS. All persons involved in the crash were uninjured and were not transported for medical treatment.

Brock’s vehicle was towed from the scene while the Dodge R15 was driven away after Patrolman Brent Copeland, assisted by Officer Corso, completed their investigation. The minor driver of the truck was cited with failure to obey traffic controls.
