3 deputies crash vehicles in pursuit of Hermitage man

Three White County law enforcement officers have been involved in a crash after they were attempting to stop a vehicle for reasons that are unknown at this time.

According to a preliminary incident report from Tennessee Highway Patrol, Jesse Dotson, 34, of Hermitage, was traveling east, on Jerry Parker Road, at approximately 1:20 p.m., on Jan. 4, 2023. Dotson was driving a 2006 Mazda and reportedly attempting to elude law enforcement when his vehicle left the roadway.

Nathaneal Theiss, 36, of White County Sheriff’s Office, who was driving a 2020 Dodge Durango, attempted to stop Dotson’s vehicle. According to the report, Theiss’ Durango struck Dotson’s Mazda in the rear, causing both vehicles to come to a rest outside the roadway.

Dotson was transported to an unnamed hospital.

Trooper Jacob Groce, of Tennessee Highway Patrol, investigated the crash.

Then, at approximately 1:55 p.m., Robert Pike, of White County Sheriff’s Office, who was driving a 2010 Ford Explorer, was attempting to assist in the active pursuit on Jerry Parker Road.

James Blankenship, of White County Sheriff’s Office, who was driving a 2017 Ford Explorer, was behind the vehicle driven by Dotson, actively in pursuit.

According to the report, Pike drove over a hilltop and drove off the roadside to the left, striking a utility pole. Pike’s vehicle then struck Blankenship’s vehicle in the driver’s front door area.

This portion of the crash was investigated by Trooper Shane Ballew, of Tennessee Highway Patrol.

According to  Ballew’s report, Pike possibly suffered a minor injury.

According to Groce’s report, multiple criminal charges against Dotson will be filed by White County Sheriff’s Office.
