65-year-old man airlifted to Erlanger with serious injuries after Saturday crash

A Smithville man was seriously injured and transported to Erlanger Medical Center after a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Crossville Highway, on June 4, in White County.

According to a report by Trooper Jacob Groce, of Tennessee Highway Patrol, at approximately 3 p.m., June 4, 2022, White County E-911 dispatched emergency services personnel to a crash with injuries, in the vicinity of Verna Qualls Road, on Crossville Highway.

The reported stated a 2010 Buick LaSabre, driven by Audrea Kirby, 57, of Sparta, was stopped at the stop sign at Verna Qualls Road and Crossville Highway. The vehicle then crossed over the highway and into the path of a 1989 Chevy S10 driven by Larissa Meadows, 35, of Crossville.

Meadows’ vehicle struck Kirby’s vehicle in the passenger side, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and come to a rest on Clay Holman Road.

Meadows’ vehicle then left the roadway and went down an embankment and struck a tree, coming to rest afterward.

Billy Clark, 65, of Smithville, who was a passenger in Meadows’ vehicle, had to be extricated from the Chevy S10 by Sparta-White County Rescue Squad. A landing zone was set up at BonDeCroft Volunteer Fire Department for Life Force air medical helicopter, and Clark was transported to Erlanger Medical Center, in Chattanooga.  

Meadows, driver of the 1989 Chevy S10, was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Stacy Daniels Jr., 29, of Sparta, who was the second passenger in Meadows’ vehicle, was not injured.

Kirby, driver of the 2010 Buick LaSabre, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

According to the report, multiple fire departments, Sparta-White County Rescue Squad, White County Emergency Medical Service, and Tennessee Highway Patrol were on the scene.
