Alene Morris Newport, 77, of Sparta, passed away May 25, 2023, at Life Care Center of Sparta.
She was born June 10, 1945, in Robbins. She was the daughter of Clint and Mary Jones Morris.
Alene was a former employee of Mallory Timers (Emerson) for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffery Newport, and two sisters, Rebba Heiness and Nadene York.
Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her husband of 58 years, Elwood Newport, of Sparta; three sons, Greg Newport, of Sparta, Edward (Kim) Newport, of Sparta, Brian (Becky) Newport, of Sparta; four grandchildren, Crystal (Tim) Savage, of Sparta, Jasmine Newport, of Sparta, Allen (Whitney) Newport, of Sparta, Leanna (Michael) Crook, of Smithville; five great-grandchildren, Tracy Savage, Axl Newport, Ozzy Newport, Mason Crook, Eli Newport; one brother, Charles (Ann) Morris, of Speedwell; one sister, Margie Newport, of Chatsworth, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
She will be dearly missed.
Funeral service was 1 p.m., May 30, 2023, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in New Old Bon Air Cemetery. Emory Thompson officiated.
Pallbearers were Allen Newport, Crystal Savage, Jasmine Newport, Leanna Crook, Michael Crook, and Tim Savage.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
