Benjamin Keith "Ben" Swindell, 78, of Walling, passed away July 31, 2020, at Signature Health Care, Algood.

Mr. Swindell was born Oct. 13, 1941, in the Yateston community of White County, to James Lester Swindell and Vernon Jewel Humphrey Swindell.

He was a graduate of White County High School where he was a member of the basketball team. His work career included Thomas Industries; his family's grocery, in Yateston; and retiring from Mallory Timers. Mr. Swindell was a sports and classic car enthusiast, but his passion was baseball. He loved to play, watch, and coach baseball. Mr. Swindell also enjoyed traveling, driving across the country on two different trips. Mr. Swindell proudly served in the Army National Guard for six years.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Swindell, and, most recently, his sister, Mildred Alcorn.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Eller Swindell; daughter, Lynn Swindell Jones; grandchildren,  Amber Cantrell, Peyton Wallace; great-granddaughter, Sterling Paige; brother-in-law, Michael Eller and wife Sherolyn; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Funeral will be 1 p.m., Aug. 3, 2020, at Hunter Funeral Home. Bro. Billy Lowery will officiate. Burial with military honors presented by the Veterans’ Honor Guard will follow, in Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., Aug. 2, at the funeral home.

Darren Swindell, David Swindell, Don Swindell, Derik Zooashkiyani, Max Jared, and Lyndon Jared will serve as pallbearers.
